For years many people have taken an aspirin daily to help prevent heart attacks, blood clots or other cardiovascular diseases. Recent studies have changed what some believe to be a very successful treatment. If you have never had a heart attack or heart disease and take an aspirin daily, you are setting yourself up for many risks. People with diabetes who take an aspirin daily are just as likely to have a heart attack or stroke in the next four to seven years as those who do not take the aspirin. Aspirin can also cause gastrointestinal bleeding problems like ulcer complications or can cause hemorrhagic strokes. But, if you have had a heart attack, bypass surgery, or any history of coronary artery disease, it is more beneficial for you to take an aspirin daily. According to a U.K. Report published in Drug and Therapeutics bulletin the risks of taking low-dose aspirin outweigh the benefits.
Doctors, people who have had heart attacks or other related problems, and those who take aspirin daily should read this article and consider the risk/benefit factors. The article clearly states that you should not take a daily aspirin on your own as a therapy, but to consult your doctor if you have been taking it. The risks for those who have never been heart problems are very serious. I personally think everyone can benefit from reading an article like this. We all know someone who either takes aspirin daily or has even suffered from heart problems. This can truly help someone who should not be taking aspirin, or teach someone the benefits of taking aspirin if they have heart problems. People who fall into the high-risk category like those with diabetes, those who smoke and/or have high-cholesterol and high-blood pressure should also read this article. It can teach them about how daily aspirin can cause problems later on in life.
A daily aspirin regiment may not be all it was cracked up to be. A recent study published in the U.K.'s Drug and Therapeutics magazine showed that there are about 50 million Americans who take a daily, low dose aspirin to prevent cardiovascular problems. As of right now, the ADA only recommends people with diabetes who are at risk of having cardio-vascular disease. However that might change soon, because it has been found that those who take 81-100 milligrams of aspirin daily were just as likely to have a heart attack or stroke in the next four to seven years as those who didn't. Will this sway the number of daily aspirin users?
I think that this is a very interesting topic. I know a handful of people that take an aspirin daily and think that that will prevent them from having heart problems. It's just a report though, and just like many other reports, something may come up next week saying the exact opposite. But regardless i think that this could shake up many daily aspirin ingesters. If they don't have to buy or take pills, that could save them time and money, and possibly some discomfort.
Recent studies have shown that the risks of taking a daily low-dose asprin my overweigh the befenits. It was said in the past that taking a low-dose asprin on a daily basis would lower your chances of blood clots and cardiac issues, but one minor detail was left out. This is only affective for people who have had heart attacks or other cardiac problems in the past, not for people who are just trying to prevent them. Taking this asprin when its not needed can cause things such as intestinal bleeding or hemorrhagic stroke. "If you have had a heart attack, bypass surgery, or a history of coronary artery disease, the benefits of daily aspirin therapy do outweigh the risks," Dr. Nissen says. "If you never had a heart attack or heart disease, you need to be at very high risk to benefit from daily low-dose aspirin therapy."
This article was very informative. It doesn't relate to me, but it could relate to someone else, and it could change a persons life. People who take an asprin daily just to be safe need to know that it actually is not safe, and can cause more problems than the ones you're trying to prevent. If you have any questions about whether or not you should take an asprin daily, see your doctor. Do not take daily asprin therapy on your own. It could end up with you in serious critical condition, or worse.
Taking a low-dose aspirin every day can help prevent heart attacks in people who've already had one. But if you've never had a heart attack (or stroke), the risks of taking a daily low-dose aspirin outweigh the benefits. Studies have shown that f you take low does aspirin daily after you've had a heart attack it can reduce the chance of having another one, but if you take one daily and have never had a heart attack it could drastically increase you chances of having a first heart attack. The authors of the new analysis say there's not enough evidence to justify the routine use of low-dose aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease in apparently healthy people, including those with elevated blood pressure or diabetes.Aspirin can cause gastrointestinal bleeding and other problems--some of them serious. People who take aspirin daily are two to four times as likely to have upper gastrointestinal problems, such as an ulcer with complications, than those not taking aspirin (even if the aspirin is buffered or has a protective coating to limit stomach problems).
In my opinion taking an aspirin once a day doesn't sound like it could harm you much at all, but if these studies are right than changes might have to be made to reduce the element in the aspirin that increases the chances of having a first heart attack. Or make separate products for people who have had heart attacks in the past and people who have never had them.
Along with over dosing on vitamins, it seems that Americans are also over dosing on Aspirins, in hopes to reduce heart attack, when in fact it may lead to worse things than just a heart attack or stroke. Do to America’s fear of dieing we always buy things that claim to keep our lives going longer than nature intends, when in fact every little thing meant to help us in return actually hurts us even worse. Aspirin is used by people whop have had heart attacks or strokes in hopes to lessen their chances of happening again, it’s also used for those with diabetes who are at chance or who have had a heart attack. This being said, those fearing that they might have a heart attack will take low milligram Aspirins thinking it will help, when it actually makes it worse, and will cause worse things than heart attacks and strokes to happen, like gastrointestinal bleeding and other problems. People who take aspirin daily are two to four times as likely to get upper gastrointestinal problems, such as an ulcers. From preventing strokes and heart attacks to gastrointestinal problems, it seems these people are doomed either way.
The only time a person should take Aspirin is when it’s prescribed, or they have aches that they can’t get rid of. Doctors have been saying for a while now it will prevent heart attacks IF you’ve already had one, but like everything else people hear they heard the part they wanted and jumped all over the product. One of the easiest way to make money is to sell a fear-based product, take Airborne fore example, it doesn’t do anything, it’s a physiological drug that when you take it, you think it’s doing something. Once you feel like your taking a drug or medicine that does what it claims you’re hooked, creating you to want more, and all you might be really doing is making the companies pockets bigger, and the creators lives richer. Nothing out there anymore seems to do as they claim, it just seems like a quick way to make a big cash amount now a days. Hurting your health and your wallet!
In the past many people have taken a low dose of aspirin to prevent heart attacks and strokes. Now researchers have found that for those who are healthy or even those with diabetes who have not had a stroke or heart attack there are more risks than benefits. Those who are healthy and take a low dose of aspirin may suffer from intestinal bleeding hemorrhagic stroke. A study was done and it was found that those who took a low dose of aspirin and those who didn’t had the same risk rate of having a heart attack or stroke. For those who have already suffered from a heart attack or stroke they have found that the aspirin does help prevent the chances of having one again. Those who take the aspirin are two to four times as likely to suffer from upper gastrointestinal problems.
I think that this information is good for everyone to be aware of. For those who are healthy there is no reason to take a low dose of aspirin and it has a greater chance of hurting you than helping you. With this information I think that many of those problems could be prevented. Many people just think of it as just another pill they take in their daily regimen and now with this new information we are aware of the side affects and how hurtful they can be. People need to talk to their doctors before starting to take a new drug because you don’t know how it will mix with other medicines that you take or if it is even something that would be beneficial to you.
this article is about taking a dose of daily aspirin. Doctors once thought that taking a daily low dose of aspirin will reduce the risk of heart attacks and heart related diseases. Taking a daily low dose of aspirin is more beneficial to people that have previously had a heart attack If you've never had a heart attack, the risks of taking a daily low-dose aspirin outweigh the benefits. There has been research done and there is not enough evidence to justify people taking low-doses of aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease in people that appear to be healthy. That also includes people that have elevated blood pressure or diabetes. Taking aspirin daily can cause gastrointestinal bleeding as well as other serious problem such as ulcers. Aspirin has also been useful in preventing blood clots which cause approximately 80% of strokes but may also be dangerous because it may increase the risk of hemorrhagic strokes, which are caused by bleeding in the brain This article is important because people are taking aspirin thinking it will help prevent heart attacks. This article effects everyone who takes aspirin thinking it will help with preventing heart related problems such as heart disease and heart attacks. This article is relevant to health because it talks about heart related problem due to taking aspirin. Aspirin is also health related because it can make healthy people get heart problems. There's not enough evidence to prove the use of low-dose aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease in healthy people, including those with high blood pressure and or diabetes. Ryan Hobart
