This article is about ways that a person can try to avoid getting the flu. Dr. Julie Gerberding  took a flight from San Fransico to Alanta. Gerberding was flying coach, when she got moved up to first class. However, she got placed next to a women who believed she had the H1N1 virus. Gerberding placed her air vent on the women to blow her germs away from herself, and pivoted her body so she was more toward the aisle then next to the infected women. Later she relized that she could have asked the women to wear a mask to stop the contamination. A person is more likely to get infected by a person inthe same row as them, then a person several rows back. The air in an airplane gets blown through a HEPA filter which purifies the air. And If a person was healthy then their bosy was more likely to fight off the flu. A Microbilogist, Charles Gerba, claims that it is also okay to drink out of a water fountain , just dont let you mouth touch the faucet and let the water run for a few minutes to rinse the germs away. And Always make sure that you wash and sanitize your hands after touching common things in a public place.

I think that it is very important educate people on how to stay safe when the flu outbreaks. Common courtisies like covering your cough and blocking your sneeze help prevent the spread of the flu. I wash and sanatize my hands all the time, especially when i am in a busy, public place.

It has always been important to stay healthy and avoid sickness, but during this time of H1N1 outbreaks it is especially important to take care of yourself and prevent the flu. Julie Gerberding, a former director at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, was on a flight to Georgia and took a few steps to avoid getting germs. She point the air vent on the airplane toward to sick woman and away from herself to keep airborne germs away near the woman (seems very selfish, what a jerk). She then like any rude human being would do, sat facing he aisle side away from the woman next to her that she though may be sick. On airplanes it is especially easy to catch germs because everyone is confined in close quarters, in tight rows and columns. As long as you are within six feet of a person it is possible to catch a cold or even the flu, this is the maximum distance germs can travel. Since it is possible to get germs from touching something a sick person touched, you should always avoid touch doorknobs and other commonly touch areas. You also need to wash your hands and make sure not to touch your face therefore avoiding getting germs in your system.

This is a very important topic especially during this time of year with H1N1 and the seasonal flu, and everyone should make a conscious effort to follow these tips. Even if you are not on a plane or in an elevator, you should still avoid contact with those who look ill and use some type of hand sanitize to disinfect your hands. These tips apply to everyone because everyone is susceptible to disease, but those that should be especially conscience are those with underlying health problems and the elderly. When practicing these prevention methods make sure to do them in a polite and civilized way, unlike the rude Dr. on the plane.

Germs are one of the deadliest killers in the world. in this article, people tell us how to avoid and pick out areas that are highly succeptable to germs. The first area that was thought to have germs was an airplane. On airplanes, you're most likely to catch an illness from the people sitting in your row and in the row behind you, according to researchers at Purdue University, who developed an animation showing how germs move around an airplane. To avoid these germs stay at least 6 feet away from someone. After you touch something like a handrail, make an effort not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth, and use hand sanitizer. What you really have to do to stay away from getting sick is just staying away from people that are already sick. Also getting fresh air.

This information is very useful. Its self explanitary but it is all accurate information. CNN really tells you how to avoid and where to go to not get sick. If you really do these things then you will not get swine flu. What i believe in is that you should just always try to get fresh air espeacially in the winter. once you close up your house, germs can multiply so opening up a window now and then will decrease your chance of getting sick. I also do not recommend using handrails. This is just a sickness waiting to happen.

*Was absent when this was due making it up*

This article talks about how one can avoid the H1N1 virus and the precautions one should take when they are around somebody who has the virus. Doctor Gerberding talks about a flight she took and had to sit next to a lady who had the swine flu. She tells us a few precautions that we could take if we are ever in this predicament. She said turn the vents towards the person so the air is circulated towards them. Then she said turn away from the person so you are not facing them. On planes you more likely to catch germs from people sitting next to you in your or behind you. You can catch germs from 6 feet away from you, so the germ radius is amazingly large.

This is very important information to know because then you know how to avoid this virus and what you should to avoid the virus. If you don’t want to contract the virus you should wash your hands constantly and you should sanitize a lot so you are germ free. Every time you use the bathroom you should wash your hands. Before you eat you should wash your hands so you are rid of your germs. Germs are everywhere in our life. They are on this keyboard I am typing with, they are doorknobs, hand railings, everything you cold think. It is crazy to think about how many germs there are and how easily you could catch them. If you don’t wash your hands you have a much greater chance of getting the flu or catching some other disease.
